Project Manager/Technician – Contract Position

Purpose of the Position:                                     

To oversee and ensure all the CMHC & INAC renovations/new construction are completed to code and on time. The Project Manager/Technician works under the direction of the Housing Manager.

Position Summary:

The Project Manager/Technician ensures the project is completed on time and within budget, He/She ensures that the project’s objectives are met and that all contractors, subcontractors and employees are working according to specification required (Building Code, Energy Code). The Project Manager/Technician will work closely with the Housing manager to ensure tenders including scope of work and material lists are accurate and completed in a timely fashion. He/She will work with the Housing Manager to ensure that tenders are awarded in a timely and appropriate manner.

Primary Duties

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional code of ethics, practices within legal parameters and is accountable to own actions at all times
  • Assisting in the development of project goals and objectives
  • Providing advice on the management of projects
  • Tendering process
  • Provide Scope of Work
  • Provide breakdown of material lists and costs for each contract/project
  • Making sure the quality standards are met Recruiting specialists and sub-contractors
  • Monitoring sub-contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained
  • Representing Muskeg Lake Cree Nation interest

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of the various construction trades in the Housing Industry
  • Familiarity with estimating for both material and labor for projects
  • Knowledge of 2015 National Building Code of Canada 2017 National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman Carpenter would be an asset
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in housing construction and maintenance
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • All Muskeg Lake Cree Nation positions require a CPIC & Vulnerable Sector Check
