Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Housing Department
Our mission is to provide the necessary shelter to the members of the community by providing quality homes with the resources available, develop long term goals to improve housing maintenance and services, and incorporating new housing building codes to improve the quality of our homes.
Responsibilities and Duties
In connection with public works, plumbing, heating, carpentry, water and sewage and electricity are provided for essential purposes, with additional services provided being furnace, vent cleaning, well service, mold remediation and fire restoration, fumigation, handicap modification, etc. Minor and Major maintenance, renovations and construction are also part of the Housing Department.
The MLCN Housing Department is committed to the changing needs of the community. With our ultimate responsibility being to maintain the integrity of housing assets, we work with other departments within MLCN to help address social, emergency, and safety issues for our residents in community.
MLCN Housing Committee approves all housing and renovation applications and allocations of Band Housing Units and Blaine Lake Rental Housing.
Housing Policy
To ensure the health, safety and preservation of housing units and occupants, a formal policy was created which outlines the purpose, objectives, definitions, responsibilities, and protocols in relation to housing.

Public Works
The Public Works Program covers the operation and maintenance of infrastructures on the main reserve and the Treaty Land Entitlement agricultural lands. Infrastructure services include roads, utilities, water and sewer, and communications, and are generally provided up to the buildings they service. They are also the support for any community event from set up to take down and event maintenance.
