Muskeg Lake Cree Nation has called a ratification vote for members to consider two important pieces of legislation:

Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Election Code
onīkānīw-nawasōnikan: A Code Respecting the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation’s Inherent Right to Self-Determination over the Election of its Council

and

Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Citizenship Code
pitīhkwākēwīyiniwak-nawasōnikan: A Code Respecting the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation’s Inherent Right to Self-Determination over Citizenship

Over the last three years, our Membership Committee and Legislative Committee have engaged with Muskeg Lake Cree Nation members to gather feedback, hear concerns, answer questions, and help inform the development of these two pieces of legislation.

That engagement has helped shape the work that is now before the Nation. It is now time for members to vote.

Eligible electors may vote online beginning June 19, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. CST until June 26, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. CST.

Eligible electors may also vote in person at the Powwow Arbor, Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, on June 26, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

To be eligible to vote, you must be:

18 years of age on June 26, 2026
and
a member of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation

Members voting in person must bring acceptable identification, such as a Status Card or Driver’s Licence.

For a copy of the proposed Election Code and Citizenship Code, members are asked to sign into the Members Portal or the Muskeg Connect app.

Members may also visit the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation Band Office or Sub Office to request a physical copy of the proposed legislation.

Official results will be counted at the close of polls on June 26, 2026. Members of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation are welcome to attend.
